des We share with you the sad news that Des Mann died unexpectedly on Wednesday afternoon. Des loved God and he showed this everywhere he went and in everything he did. Des lived an active and full life and touched lives too numerous to count. The pain and grief of all who knew him through Ann Street Church of Christ is shared by the students he served at
Balmoral State High School, his family and friends and his loving wife Lena who we lift up in prayer at this time.

We went to Huntington Beach (AKA Surf City USA). Here I am with Boy-O and my cousin Beth on the pier.

we ate lunch at Ruby's- at the end of the Pier. You can see the ocean out the window. While we were eating, we saw dolphins playing out there.

two days later we were in the mountains. I was blessed with the use of a cabin for a few days. Here I am with Beth and Robin... as we walked along Lake Gregory at Crestline.

Boy-O had told his friends that he was going to do this... crazy boys. It was 0.5 degrees C outside. Just after this, it actually began to snow.

A Fun Day In LA

Posted by Daun on January 4, 2010 under Tours | Be the First to Comment

Saturday 2 January- we hop on the Metrolink and take the train to downtown LA. We enjoy lunch at Philippe's- the home of the french dip sandwich (if you don't know what that is, it is one of the yummiest sandwiches ever)- and then a 5 minute walk we found ourselves at Olvera Street. Stepping onto Olvera Street is like stepping into Mexico. Heaps of shopping and food. We enjoyed churros- but not just any churro- these were filled with either custard, strawberry, or carmel. To cunclide a fun, beautiful sunny day, we stopped to have our picture taken... as you can see from this picture, it was not just any picture. We had so many people stopping to watch, and most likely wonder what 15 people were doing having their picture taken with Santa and a burrow (Boy-O is sitting on the burrow). We had many laughs at this, but it was a great way to end o fun filled day!

Oh my goodness, it has been great since the day i have gottern here. So far I havent had a boring day yet, meaning that I have gottern out of the house and did something. The food here is amazing, I am getting so fat. The goal i had in mind when i got here was to gain 10 pounds, guess what, it looks like i’ll be leaving this place with 20 pounds or more. HA!
As you probably have already heard, the first day I went to church I got $10 from Pastor Shane, so funny. I have met so many new and cool people since i have arrived.
Thanks giving was a blast. It was the night that I arrived on, dont remember the date but oh well. That night Robin, Kyle’s mother, and I had planned on giving him a HUGE suprise by walking in on his thanksgiving dinner, I walk in carrying a table covering my face and I said,
“Thanks for helping us with the table jerk”, when he heard my voice he thought he had gotten knocked out. The video of his reaction is so funny.

That is just a little bit of what has happened here in South California so far.
Its soo good here. Oh yeah and I went to an LA Lakers game =D

the girls came in late Thursday night from Ecuador and on Friday we were at Disneyland. We all got free ticktes, what a blessing. Chandra came to join in the fun. Here we are after the fireworks, when it was 'snowing' on Main St.
